Get Active Sports Holiday & ACTIVITY FOOD PROGRAMME (HAF)

On 8 November 2020, the government announced that the holiday activities and food programme will be expanded across the whole of England in 2022. The programme has provided healthy food and enriching activities to disadvantaged children since 2018.

The programme will cover the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays.

School holidays can be particular pressure points for some families because of increased costs (such as food and childcare) and reduced incomes. For some children that can lead to a holiday experience gap, with children from disadvantaged families:

Get Active Sports have been running our fabulous multi-activity holiday camps every holiday since 2012. Alongside our team of dedicated sports coaches, playworkers and teachers, we have a whole host of activities planned to keep your children active and engaged.

Get Active have assisted Oxfordshire, Reading and Hillingdon council in providing over 700 children per day with exciting activities, delicious hot meals and a chance to meet new friends. Get Active are proud to be offering the HAF scheme in the below local areas. If your child is in receipt of free school meals and live in one of the below areas, get in touch!

My twins, Bradley and Imogen attended the club this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yoki and Gary were very friendly and the kids enjoyed all the activities which they had planned. Despite the rainy weather, the still managed to play cricket indoors which delighted my sport crazy son! Yoki, in particular, always had a smile on her face and my kids said she was funny and played with them a lot. We often use a different holiday club in Newbury but will be back to this club again next year.

Radstock Camp

My boys (4) and (9) have been attending Radstock school this week and last week. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team there. One of my boys has suffered with anxiety about his younger brother attending but the team have managed to settle his concerns and worries. I was so grateful my youngest met with a friendly familiar face on day 1 (Coach Alex), Alex and the team have ensured both boys have had a great day. They have both made new friends and built up confidence.

They absolutely love it! Both venues have been amazing at accommodating my youngest child, she's not started school yet and has come out of the nursery. I was so anxious about her attending but she has thoroughly enjoyed it. Both kids have enjoyed the activities especially the crafts and seem to always want to go back. The team is so friendly and cheery.

At South Ascot Afterschool Club I can hear and see the children actively communicating and interacting together on a daily basis. There's a really positive vibe and the children are continually involved in a variety of engaging activities. Everyone is catered for and no-one is left out. The after school club has a real buzz and it has a genuine child centered approach. All members of staff are fully active and I can see that they genuinely care for the children and want to be there. Thank you  - it's so lovely that my child is a part of it!

My 5 year old boy loved Lent Rise Camp these last two weeks! I asked him how he found it, he said 'it was super fun'! He loved the Coach's and they made him feel welcome and involved in everything! Will definitely use again!

Our son had a couple of sessions at the Pytchley Endowed CofE Holiday Camp this week. Initially, he was only booked in for a half-day, but he loved it so much that he didn’t want to leave and asked to go back for another full day! Will definitely be sending him again at half term!

Have used get active sports for a few years now. My children thoroughly enjoy their time there. They attend Prestwood and Great Missenden camp. These camps have the most wonderful coach, Dave. He is so patient and lovely with all the children. We have used several other clubs but have stuck with Get Active as that’s where my children are happiest!

Get Active has just started at our infant school - Willowbank in Woodley. The activities are so varied and fun. I can not believe the games they have got! nerf wars, laser tag, scooters, pool. The staff are so caring. They are actually playing and engaging with the children! big shout out to Shannon and Luke they are both amazing!
